The Natural World.
The reason why I have chosen to do the natural world is because it looks interesting and has
variety of different experiments. I like the movement, colour, shape and texture of flowers, water
and trees etc. When I do my experiments I will do a variety of different experiments with different backgrounds and how it is displayed. Through out doing this I will do many experiments and at the end I will choose my final piece to do.

Irving Penn
Irving Penn was born in 1917. The black and white forms a strong contrast. The way he creates his images makes them look unnatural, which made me interested by his work. He has done this by putting a really bright background. |
Mat Collishaw.
Mat Collishaw was born in 1966.He is a very well known artist that does a lot of different medias. Much of his work contains historical and art-historical references to the interaction between nature and culture. I like his work because you do not usually see pictures of flowers on fire. H |
Allan Forsyth.
This is an artist that explores different themes of work. He explores different processes and techniques such as digital photography, photograms and mixed media collages. His subject matter is natural world such as flowers, animals and landscapes and mixed media collages where he combines several subject matter in one piece. I like this picture because you can see the flower but not just the flower the inside of it. |
The photos that I took are my first experiment I took inspiration from Irving Penn. He used a light box. I went out and got a few flowers and leaves then put it on to a light box. At first I took pictures of the flowers and leaves normally but then i put them in a box and the book squashed them and i took pictures of them. I liked the way the colours and the contrast with the red because it makes it stand out with the white light. This is what i intended to do and it came out how i wanted it to.
The next experiment i would like to do is a photogram and shape them into a cube. I will do this in lesson with photographic paper and use the chemicals to expose the picture. |
Final Evaluation.
The theme that I chose was Natural World. The reason why I chose to do natural world is because there was many things to take images of. When i was doing my experiments i used a light box and DLR camera and also edited them on photoshop.
When I first started this project I wanted to photograph the natural world in a creative and interesting way. I was inspired by the artists Irving Penn and I wanted the flowers to stand out on the background so I photographed them on the light box, this brought out the colours of the flowers and plants and made them stand out. Also I tried to layer the leaves on top of each other and this changed the way the colours looked, the reds and oranges looked brighter and made it look unnatural. Then I continued with this theme by using photoshop and layering the images, this helped me by improving images on photoshop and making them look better.
To create my final piece I used photoshop and layered the images and changing the contrast of each image. In conclusion what I have learnt throughout this project is being able to use photoshop and layering images and also making something natural look unnatural through the use of digital media such as the digital camera, light box and layering through photoshop. I think my final piece is eye catching and don't look like what it is meant to look like. The reason why I have chosen to do 3 different images with different contrast is because it looked much more interesting and the colours stood out a lot.
